In the meantime, I do have one recipe for you, though not my own. It's Mallika's rice and lentil khichdi from her site, Quick Indian Cooking. This was my lunch yesterday and exactly what I needed in the moment. It's warm and comforting and easy on the tummy. Perfect for when you're not feeling well and super easy to make. Thank you, Mallika! I hope all of you that haven't been well are feeling better soon! Comments (7)

| Looks good! I love recipes like this when I'm sick too. Lately, our whole family has been down with colds, and I made a lot of soup last week. VT had several healing soup recipes in their mag about a year ago, and we make the red lentil one a lot. I'm also a new fan of the French Potage soup with pistou. I will definitely be making this one! |
| A khichdi, how yum. I used to make those all the time, but haven't had one for ages. It's one of those recipes I've "forgotten" about. Tonight we're having lentils and bulgar wheat. But I think tomorrow might be khichdi time. |

Hi Robin, the whole family down at once, oh my. I hope everyone is back on their feet soon! And I hope this dish brings you all as much warmth and comfort as it did for me. Will have to look up those VT recipes. Thanks for sharing! Hi Kathryn, khichdi is relatively new to me. I made it once before using a recipe that was very different from Mallika's and not quite as easy to make. I love the sheer simplicity, gentleness and comforting feel of this one and it really hits the spot, even when not sick. Had to make it again for lunch yesterday. Enjoy your khichdi! |

Hello plz give the Hindi names of masalas plz as some time we normally don't use English names at home we don't have the knowledge of these names. Other then that I will try it at home as I am on diet plans and it sounds good. Thanks. |
| Thanks Mallika! It's a really wonderful recipe, so simple and satisfying. It's exactly as you described, too... warm and comforting, like a giant hug. Loved it. |
mahwish, I don't know Hindi names, but Mallika has a glossary on her site that I find useful. See if that helps! Thanks for your comment. |
