Click for Larger View Simple No-Cook Sesame Date Bites:  a satisfying treat when you want a bite of something sweet.  They're a perfect snack for packing in lunches and make nice nibblies to serve at parties.  You won't need a precise recipe to put them together.  Simply stuff fresh pitted dates with almonds, then lightly coat in a tahini-agave mixture*, tumble in a bowl of sesame seeds, transfer to a baking sheet and refrigerate a couple of hours to set up.

*For enough tahini-agave mixture to coat about 20 medjool dates, combine a tablespoon each of tahini, agave nectar and orange juice, along with a bit of finely grated orange zest and a pinch of cinnamon.  Feel free to play around with the flavors!

Adapted from a recipe called "Date Candies" by Tracy Holly, found in a magazine insert tucked between the pages of the August '08 issue of Alive.

These really do sound fantastic, and even more so because of how easy they are to make. I have a vegan potluck to go to next week and I think these just helped me decide what to make! Stumbled!

I just made these last night (with a pot of your Red Bean and Lager Chili, if you must know) and they are FABULOUS. I'm sure I'll be making them again and again!

Very similar to one I do - 1/4 cup almonds (or nuts), 1/4 dates, 1 tbsp agave or maple syrup: pulse in a food processor, then roll into balls and coat with sesame seeds, hemp hearts or whatever else you like. Tastes exactly like a larabar!
